Breville: The smartest, best looking toaster on the planet

by Ben Lucier on December 3, 2011

I’ve been in the market for a decent toaster ever since I purchased my first home.

So the other day, while picking up a microwave, I saw the Die-Cast 4-Slice Smart Toaster from Breville on display. My first reaction was “wow, that’s beautiful!” Another thing I noticed right away was the lack of a lever to raise and lower toast, because it’s completely electronic.

I had to have it even if it was 100 bucks, I didn’t care.

So I was more than a little surprised to learn the toaster was $200! It was too late though as I was already hooked. At least there was a 20% off sale which means I’d save $40. So I caved in and purchased it for $160.

After using it for the past week, I’m in love with this toaster. It makes perfect toast and pop tarts every time thanks to it’s really cool “Auto Lift and Look” plus “a bit more” button. There’s also a Bagel setting so it knows to toast only on the inside. It’s sleek, modern, brushed die-cast aluminum in smooth lines looks great in my kitchen. Extra-wide slots for artisanal breads, bagels, and pastries. Front pull-out crumb tray for no-lift cleaning.

If you’re a technology guy like me and appreciate smart features packed in a beautiful design, I’d highly recommend this toaster.
